Challenges Ahead...
Joe Saragusa, Lead Pastor

Challenge
Imagine the headline that reads... "GOD CHOSE YOU FOR THE CHALLENGES AHEAD!"

Over a year and a half ago we began this journey as a church to locate land for our future home. We felt that God led us to the perfect location... the ideal hub for the ministries of Celebrate Church and for the community!  Since that time, we have done our due diligence and marched forward in pursuit of the goal.

From the beginning of this journey I thought, "This is great!  God has provided our very own 'Promised Land!'"  But just like Joshua, I realized there were giants in the land.  There were challenges.  For the past 18 months we have encountered delays, blockades and hurdles in our path.  But we have continued to march forward in faith!

I asked all of you to write to the county commissioners and local leadership. My goal was to send a solidarity message of how this land would benefit the community.  It has been amazing to see the display of unity within the Celebrate family and the level of faith combined with action.  And now we are just steps away from the victory!

In this journey (and in life) we take risks and fight battles and experience delays... and some would ask, "Is it worth it?" The answer... ABSOLUTELY!  Because what God starts He finishes!

"The most exciting part of any race is not the start of the race. It's the end. We don't get excited about the start. We get excited at the end of the race."

Good things are ahead, not just for Celebrate but for all of the people of Celebration and the surrounding communities... and for YOU!  All of us are in a battle, but we already know we're going to win it because the Bible tells us we have the victory.  I don't know of a more exciting time to be alive!

As a Pastor, I realize that there are many things you don't have control over. You didn't choose when you'd be born or where you'd be born or what your natural talents would be. God, in his sovereignty, chose those things for you. But there is one thing you DO have control over and that's the most important thing: It's how much you choose to believe God!

Philippians 1:6 says, "I am sure that God who began this good work in you will carry it on until it is finished on the day of Jesus Christ."

You can trust him. Whatever he starts, he finishes - and finishes well!

Growing Together,
Pastor Joe

Dreaming Together!
Joe Saragusa, Lead Pastor

Open Door
As I write this letter, I am reflecting on one of the most exciting weeks in the history of our young church. We had a great victory at the County with the Commissioners voting unanimously to approve the use of the land for our church!

It's surreal to know that the land we have been praying for is now ours to purchase (after over one year of pursuit) and now is the time to move on to the next step. Not only has this week been exciting, but the last three years have been an amazing journey.

The greatest victory of all is seeing hundreds of people have an encounter with Christ.
As I think about the land and our first phase building, I can't help but to dream.

I realize that just as God gave us His Holy Spirit, He gives us all of the resources and abilities we need to fulfill our dreams (and His dreams for us). God never gives us dreams and opportunities without giving us the tools to make them possible. There is not a dream in your possession that there aren't also miraculous resources in your possession to fulfill it!

All of this reflection and dreaming leads me to a question... How do you discover the miracle for the dream that is in your heart?

I believe the key is to find out what resources we have, what talents we possess, and what experiences we have journeyed through. Many people feel that outside resources, talent, money and manpower are needed to reach their dreams. Many people feel resources for accomplishment are in other people's hands. It seems that so much time is spent trying to convince others to support our dreams. But many times the opposite is true. You have already been given the resources or access to the resources to carry out your dream to fulfillment.

As a person (a creation of Almighty God) you have a mind, physical strength, experience, knowledge and a host of other resources within you. On top of that, as a Christ follower you have the Holy Spirit living in your "house". God Himself indwells in you; His resources are yours. Far from having nothing... you have everything!

"As His divine power has given us all things that pertain to life, through the knowledge of Him who called us..." 2 Peter 1:3

You have everything you need. So ask yourself what is in your possession? Do an inventory. List everything you have... your talents, gifting, skills, passions, experiences, bank accounts, assets, investments, friends, colleagues, contacts, ideas, and the list goes on! Make sure that you don't overlook the small things that can result in large miracles. They may even be the very thoughts God gives you.

I know that most of you who are reading this letter have been given many God-ideas that could change your life and impact this world.

It is up to us to take hold of those dreams and do something great for God!

Dreaming Together,
Pastor Joe

What do You Want for Christmas?
Joe Saragusa, Lead Pastor

Christmas Present What do you want for Christmas this year? If you were to ask a typical child or teenager they would say an iPod, Xbox, or maybe a Wii (good luck finding one of those)... Ask my daughter and she would say clothes.

You know, we spend most of our Christmas season searching for the perfect gift, the huge bargain, the ideal decoration, and the upfront parking spot. At the very first Christmas, many people missed it because they were too busy looking for other things. The politicians missed the first Christmas. The business community missed the first Christmas. The innkeeper missed the first Christmas. Even the religious establishment missed the first Christmas, because they were looking at other things. The only people who enjoyed the very first Christmas, nearly two thousand years ago, were the people who were looking for it.

The shepherds found Jesus because they were searching. They were seeking Him. And later on, another group, the wise men, found Jesus because they were looking for Him, too.

Let me ask you: what are you going to find this Christmas? I'll tell you what you're going to find: You'll find what you're looking for.

Christmas Hope - THANK YOU!!!
Extending a hand of hope.

Christmas Hope Thank you to all who helped in our Christmas Hope Outreach this year.

Here is an excerpt from a letter from a single mom that received "hope" this Christmas because of your generosity...

"Someone from the church delivered the Christmas Hope gifts to me last night. I wish I could describe all the different feelings that I experienced as I was handed the gifts.

My children may be the ones that will be receiving the presents, but I will receive a gift far more valuable in the end. Knowing that they are not expecting many presents, I feel like I am bursting at the seams with the excitement and anticipation of seeing their reaction on Christmas morning when they see so many packages under the tree!

Do you have any idea how much joy that is going to give me? THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU! Please tell anyone and everyone who helped with "Christmas Hope" how thankful I am.

You will never know how much you are helping my family. My girls and I are going to have a wonderful Christmas this year. Over time, they will outgrow the toys or clothes they received. But a day full of joy, happiness, laughter and wonderful memories is a gift we will be able to cherish forever. Thank you for giving us that!"

Looking Forward...
Joe Saragusa, Lead Pastor

Looking ForwardEvery closing year offers an opportunity to refocus and restart with the new year ahead.  If you have trusted Christ with leading your life, then you have been given the power and authority to break free from the past that many times seems to dominate our present and determine our future.

At the turn of this new year, it is time to look ahead not behind.  To look forward, not backward.  The more we look backward the less we able we are to see forward.  The past does not determine what God will do for you TODAY.

The beauty of being a Christ follower is even when we fail, we are able to ask forgiveness and be released from our past actions.  Whatever hold the past may have on you CAN be broken.  It is never God who holds us back.  It is always our own choosing to allow the past to keep us from living to the fullest in the present and future.

Choose today to be forward focused, not past possessed!  The past is a learning lesson, but the future is an opportunity to invest.

The Apostle Paul writes in Philippians 3:13-14,

"I'm not saying that I have this all together, that I have it made. But I am well on my way, reaching out for Christ, who has so wondrously reached out for me. Friends, don't get me wrong: By no means do I count myself an expert in all of this, but I've got my eye on the goal, where God is directing onward-to Jesus. I'm off and running, and I'm not turning back."

The key here is this statement:  "I'm off and running and I'm not turning back!"  To fulfill God's design for our life and live out His purposes for our being here we first must forget the past.  The biggest stranglehold in a person's life is often their past mistakes.  Today is the day to begin to leave the chains of the past and move forward daily in God's grace.

THE PAST IS THE PAST.  IT HAS NO LIFE!  MAY 2008 BE A YEAR OF LOOKING FORWARD.

Looking Forward,

Pastor Joe
Joe
